AMBER alerts are notifications issued by the Federal government, designed to help find abducted children. Your iPhone’s AMBER alerts sound even if your phone is set to Do Not Disturb.

Blue Alert Blue Alerts provide the public with information about a person who has injured and poses an imminent threat to law enforcement or the general public. California began using this alert system in 2011.
under the Wireless & Networks heading, scroll to the bottom, then tap Cell broadcasts. Here, you’ll see various options you can toggle on and off, such as an option to “Display alerts for extreme threats to life and property,” another one for AMBER alerts , and so on. Toggle these settings on and off as you see fit.
You can disable these notifications if you wish. In Android , the settings will be under Cell Broadcast, while on iOS, you’ll find the Government Alerts toggle under Notifications. But, seeing as these alerts could save lives, we suggest leaving them on.

Residents who do not have internet access may register by dialing 211 or 1-888-435-7565 to sign up. Text your zip code to 888777 to receive real-time alerts and advisories from your local police department and other local agencies.
Any person who is reported lost, missing, or overdue, adult or child, may be searched for immediately by any emergency management, fire, law enforcement, emergency medical services, search and rescue, rescue squad, or other similar organization to which a missing or overdue person is reported.
Amber Alerts are for children under the age of 18 who have been abducted and in danger of serious bodily harm or death. Silver Alerts are for missing endangered adults, high risk missing people or missing endangered children.
However, while AMBER Alerts warn about cases of child abduction, blue alerts are intended to notify the public when local, state, or federal law enforcement officers are killed or injured. The intention is to provide a description of alleged assailants in order to facilitate their apprehension.
You’ll find the menu in Settings > Apps & notifications > Advanced > Emergency Alerts .
2. From the lock screen, swipe up from the middle to see your notifications . If your iPhone is already unlocked, you can swipe down from the top to see your old notifications .
For iOS 7. + that is located by pulling the drop down menu from the top of your screen. Scroll down from the top of the screen and you can see the alerts .
